Schools and camps are sometimes breeding grounds for lice, but also at the sports club these critters can easily move from head to head. You can never be 200% certain of preventing a lice infestation, but thanks to our tips you can at least reduce the chance that you or your child(ren) bring them home after sports.

Sharing a comb? Better not!

Contrary to popular belief, lice are not capable of flying or jumping. They crawl from head to head thanks to the electrostatic charge of the hair, but also when you share items such as a hat with someone who has the critters. Does this mean you’re at little to no risk at the sports club? Not until a friend with freshly washed hair asks if she can borrow your comb… The risk of infestation is therefore not completely excluded in the locker room either!

Maniacal hair washing makes no sense

Getting lice is not a matter of poor hygiene. It is therefore pointless to wash your hair excessively often as a preventive measure. What IS useful to do: wear your long hair in a braid. With loose hair, you have a higher chance of hair-to-hair contact and you give lice a larger surface to crawl onto.

Lice Protecting Factor: preventive treatment

Is there a lice outbreak at school or the sports club? The anti-lice shampoo and lotion from Elimax not only kill lice and nits but also offer unique protection. The products contain LPF or Lice Protecting Factor, a combination of ingredients that reduces the electrostatic charge of the hair and emits a scent that repels lice (but is not detected by humans). Thanks to Elimax’s products, the hair becomes a lot less attractive to lice, and this protective action remains active for three days.
